Conservation and Sustainable Use of Natural and Cultural Heritage in the Spatial Plan of the Republic of Serbia (Abstract)

This document provides a brief overview from the Spatial Plan of the Republic of Serbia (SPRS) from 2010 to 2020, segment relating to the protection and sustainable use of natural and cultural heritage, with: state protection and sustainable use of heritage as an important resource for the future spatial development; concept of spatial development, which implies a different approach of the protection, preservation and use of heritage in relation to regional and local specificities; and priority strategic projects and activities for the protection, development and sustainable use of natural and cultural heritage. Implementation of the SPRS stands out as important and as well as guidelines for the protection in heritage through the lower level planning documents, development plans and programs, regulations and general acts, and their role in defining strategies on national, regional and local level. The importance and necessity is continuous monitoring of established objectives and strategic priorities for the protection and sustainable use of heritage through the programs of implementation and system of defined indicators, as well as through the development and use of information system for planning and development.
